In the heart of Minnesota lake country lies a place where memories are made, traditions are created, and families come together. For Denise and Jenna, mother and daughter, Carlos Creek Winery (CCW) in Alexandria, Minnesota is a place to celebrate connection.
With a family cabin nearby, and many years camping in the Alexandria Lakes area, they’ve been visiting CCW as a family for years.
“We’ve been coming [to CCW] since 2011, over 13 years now,” Denise reminisced.
Denise and Jenna have enjoyed so many different experiences together at CCW over the years. Mirroring the changes in their lives, their visits have evolved. They originally started trips as girls’ outings, but it quickly transformed into family gatherings, with boyfriends, husbands, and eventually children joining the fold.
“We always try to take the photo in the barrel every time we visit. And now the kids like to stand in and take the photo too,” Jenna said.
Another part of their CCW experience is the MN Nice Wine Club, which they’ve loved being a part of for years. “We’ve been wine club members for 4-5 years now,” Denise shared. She even notes that when her brother-in-law came up to visit and they went to the winery, he and his wife loved their experience so much they became wine club members as well, despite living hours away.
“It’s fun to see new people starting to enjoy it and creating those traditions,” said Jenna.
Their favorite part about CCW? “The family atmostphere,” Jenna shared. “The tradition of getting together with family [at CCW]. It’s a beautiful setting and there’s something for everyone of all ages.”
As we delved deeper into their CCW adventures, one thing became clear: the winery isn’t just a place; it’s a cornerstone of connection and community. From bachelorette parties to Fourth of July celebrations, CCW has been the backdrop for countless milestones and cherished moments for both Jenna and Denise, as well as their extended family and friends.
“We like to have the family time, and enjoy hanging out with one another. Time just goes so fast and you need to create the memories and the family time and traditions. We always make a point of going out to CCW [together],” Denise said.
