There’s a lot of information out there related to all things food and wine. But how do you know if what you’ve heard is true? Read on as we bust two common misconceptions.
Common misconceptions
1). Throw out wine you dislike or that’s gone bad
There’s nothing worse than opening a bottle of wine and realizing it’s not quite what you were expecting. But think twice before you walk over the sink to dump it out, and turn on your stove top or oven instead! You can use that wine for cooking. Perhaps it would be stellar in a sauce or a soup. Or…you could use it as an excuse to make chocolate cake. Whatever you do, know that there are lots of ways you can make use of it!
2). Pair your wine with meat
Instead of thinking about the meat you are using in your dish, think about the way it’s being prepared. For instance, some people feel they need to pair a white wine with their chicken or a red wine with their steak. However, you want to think first and foremost about the preparation of the food and the sauce you may be putting on it. Depending on those factors, you may want to reconsider your pairing!
And there you have it! More pairing knowledge to put into your back pocket for the next time you need it. Have you heard these common misconceptions before?
